In alignment with the Ministry of Home Affairs' directives, a civil defense exercise known as 'Operation Shield' was held across regions including Jammu-Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana, and Chandigarh. This mock drill is designed to assess preparedness in case of potential warfare or disasters.
Participants, including civil defense wardens, local administration personnel, and young volunteers from NCC, NSS, NYKS, Bharat Scouts, and Guides, offered their services, assisting the civil administration through various operations.

A mock drill was conducted outside the DC Office in Srinagar, Jammu-Kashmir, while Amritsar in Punjab was also a site of this exercise. Commandant Jaskaran Singh from Amritsar stated that the drill aims to evaluate how well all civil defense departments coordinate with each other.
He mentioned that several districts are at higher risk due to their proximity to the Pakistani border. Areas like Amritsar, Pathankot, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur, Ferozepur, and Fazilka were highlighted. The purpose of these mock drills is to ensure maximum administrative operations during situations resembling war. It also serves as a practice for staying safe at home during air and drone attacks and during blackouts, a crucial aspect of Operation Shield.

Exercise on Air and Drone Attacks
The mock drill simulated situations with enemy aircraft, drones, and missile attacks. During this time, a hotline between the Air Force and civil defense control rooms was activated, and air raid warning sirens were initiated.

Mock Drill Conducted in Doda
In Doda, Jammu-Kashmir, a mock drill was organized. JKAS officer and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Doda, Anil Kumar Thakur stated this marks the second exercise under Operation Shield in Doda. Such mock drills are an integral part of our preparation to effectively manage any disaster situation.
