Around the world, people devise various schemes to earn money. Sometimes these methods are so bizarre that they defy belief. A 'beggar' in China is recently gaining attention for such a method. This individual ropes in 70,000 yuan ($9,730) a month purely through panhandling. Yes, you read that correctly, but what's even more astounding is that this person isn't actually a beggar but a professional actor.
For the last 12 years, actor Lu Jingang has been acting as a beggar at a popular tourist spot, eliciting sympathy from onlookers. Through such acts of compassion, he makes a living, seemingly a struggling beggar, but in reality, his talent keeps his true identity undetected.
With his dirt-smudged face, forlorn eyes, and plain attire, he has perfected the art of deceiving tourists. Reportedly, this skilled actor earns up to 70,000 yuan ($9,730) each month, in addition to being offered hearty meals.
According to Time Doctor, the average monthly salary in China is currently around 29,000 yuan ($4,000), which places Lu Jingang among the country's top earners. Some have even started calling him the richest beggar in China, which is technically incorrect since he's a professional actor who plays the role of a beggar for profit.
Lu states that he chose this unconventional career path because he loved to act and it provided him the opportunity to do so without the need for auditions. Initially, his family did not support him, but as they witnessed his earnings, they eventually joined in support.
As time passed, Lu Jingang embraced his role and performance, which recently turned him into an internet celebrity. His clothing, his unwashed face with a sorrowful expression, and his pleas compel people to offer assistance.
