An intriguing incident has emerged related to the health department in Chhattisgarh. In fact, a district collector in Chhattisgarh stood in line for medicine. Upon reaching the distribution counter, the present paramedical staff advised him to purchase three types of medicines from a shop outside, essentially.

Following this, the collector directly visited the medical stores of the Red Cross and was infuriated seeing branded medicines being stocked. Bhim Singh, the collector of Dhamtari, took a patient’s prescription and joined the queue with the patients. He first visited the district hospital, interacted with patients, observed the arrangements, and also checked the cleanliness. When he heard complaints about buying medicines from outside, he took a patient’s prescription and waited for his turn in line.

When his turn came, he found the complaint to be true. Upon examining his prescription, the paramedical staff advised buying three types of medicines from external medical stores.

The collector displayed considerable displeasure thereafter. He scolded the employees and immediately went to the Red Cross medical stores, expressing anger as he spotted branded medicines stocked there as well and reprimanded vigorously.

Notably, neither the hospital staff nor the medical store staff recognized the collector. Bhim Singh is an IAS officer from the 2008 batch, originally from Haryana, and this is his first tenure as a collector.
