In Bhubaneswar, Odisha, two distressing accidents led to the loss of one life and left two police officers gravely injured. The injured officers have been hospitalized for treatment. An investigation is currently underway by the police concerning these incidents that took place at the Baramunda Overbridge.
According to reports, the first accident occurred around midnight on Wednesday when an unidentified truck collided with a pickup van, instantly killing the van's driver. Upon receiving the alert, two police vans from the Khandagiri station arrived at the scene to retrieve the body and clear the road.
However, another mishap occurred during the operation. A high-speed trailer struck one of the stationary police vans during the process, causing severe injuries to two policemen.
One home guard, operating the police van at the time of impact, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a private hospital. Meanwhile, another police officer, engaged in traffic management at the scene, suffered multiple fractures and is currently undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital.
Bhubaneswar's Twin City Police Commissioner, S. Deo Datta Singh, and DCP Jagmohan Meena visited the hospital to assess the medical situation of the victims. Currently, the search for the unidentified truck and trailer drivers is underway.
