Last week a riveting chase culminated in Delhi police apprehending Firoz, the man accused of the cold-blooded murder of a cab driver near the historic Red Fort. The encounter unfolded dramatically when, armed with intelligence from an informant, the police cornered Firoz only to be met with a barrage of gunfire. In a swift retort, officers returned fire, resulting in Firoz sustaining injuries leading to his capture.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), M.K. Meena, shared the harrowing details—"A tip-off on Sunday led our team straight to Firoz. Confronted with surrender, he fired upon the police unit, triggering a necessary response."

Injured in the encounter, Firoz got struck in the left leg and was subsequently rushed to Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital for treatment. Even with a wound, his capture signifies a victory for Delhi Police, who had been on his trail for a relentless week. A case under the Arms Act has been registered against the Loni resident.

To give you a sense of the fateful night of April 15th, a Maruti WagonR was making its way towards Chhatta Rail Crossing from Kodiya Pul when it collided with an e-rickshaw, sparking an immediate and violent dispute. Amid the melee, two e-rickshaw passengers dragged the driver out. As a crowd began to gather, the cab driver managed to grapple with one of the attackers.

During the scuffle, a gun appeared. Shots rang out in the night—a stray bullet struck not only the cab driver but also an unsuspecting beggar witnessing the altercation. Both victims were rushed to LNJP Hospital, where the 36-year-old cab driver, identified as Mohammad Saqib from Palwal, tragically succumbed to his injuries. The teenage beggar, Love Khush, who was a regular at the red light begging for alms, survived the incident.
