In a heartbreaking turn of events in a village in the Bibi Nagar area of Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, a girl took her own life amid a romantic relationship. She was distressed by her boyfriend’s blackmail and documented her ordeal in a suicide note, detailing how she was compelled towards this act. The police have registered a case against the accused and his mother.
According to the information, the victim was in love with a boy named Rakesh Sharma from a neighboring village. They had also been physically intimate, during which the accused recorded an inappropriate video of her. Simultaneously, the girl's family arranged a marriage for her elsewhere, set for March 3. Upon learning this, her boyfriend objected to the marriage. He blackmailed her by threatening to make the indecent video viral and demanded money from her multiple times.
As the wedding date approached, Rakesh Sharma contacted her fiancé and revealed their love affair, leading to the engagement being broken off in anger. This ordeal devastated her family who had prepared for the wedding. Heartbroken, she doused herself with thinner and set herself on fire. Despite being treated at a local hospital and moved to Meerut, she succumbed to her injuries.

The deceased's father, Ramkishan, expressed that all arrangements for his daughter's marriage were made. However, she was troubled by Rakesh Sharma's blackmail, as he had made a video of her and was extorting money. He had taken 50,000 rupees from her and continued to demand more. When he did not get the money, he even called the fiancé, causing the wedding to be called off, leaving her deeply distressed. They have lodged a complaint against him and his mother at the Bibi Nagar police station.
CO Sikandarabad, Purnima Singh, stated that based on the victim’s family's complaint, a case has been registered against Rakesh Sharma and his mother under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The accused is absconding, but his mother has been arrested. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was involved with Rakesh Sharma from nearby Nagla Agrasen. A suicide note was also recovered, and efforts to locate the accused are underway.
