In the BJP's kickoff list, ML Ashwini from Kasargod, C Raghunath from Kannur, Prafulla Krishna from Vadakara, MT Ramesh from Kozhikode, Dr. Abdul Salam from Malappuram, Nivedita Subramanian from Ponnani, C Krishnakumar from Palakkad, celebrated actor Suresh Gopi from Thrissur, Shobha Surendran from Alappuzha, Anil K. Antony from Pattanamthitta, V Muraleedharan from Attingal, and Rajeev Chandrasekhar from Thiruvananthapuram have been allotted tickets.

The Retired Vice Chancellor Abdul Salam

Dr. Abdul Salam, a BJP member hailing from Tirur, contested the 2021 elections from 135 Memom in Kerala. He served as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calicut. From 2011 to 2015, he presided as Vice Chancellor. At the time of his appointment, both teacher's and student's unions opposed him. Dr. Abdul Salam, opposed to student politics, championed a ban on it. After retiring, he joined the BJP in 2019. According to MyNeta.info, his total assets amount to approximately INR 6.47 crore, with no criminal cases recorded against him.

Congress and the United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala have reached an accord on seat sharing for the Lok Sabha elections. Congress will contest 16 out of 20 seats. The IUML will battle for two seats (Malappuram and Ponnani), the Revolutionary Socialist Party for one (Kollam), and the Kerala Congress for one (Kottayam). The Muslim League has agreed to a Rajya Sabha seat concession from Congress in exchange for the extra seat they sought.

INDIA block member CPI is set to field candidates against Congress in Kerala. The CPI has announced its four contenders. Annie Raja, the wife of CPI General Secretary D Raja, and Pannian Ravindran will challenge Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad and Shashi Tharoor in Thiruvananthapuram, respectively.

Some Facts about the Previous Lok Sabha

According to data provided on the same website, around 43 percent of MPs in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections reported facing criminal cases. In this Lok Sabha, roughly 82 percent of the MPs are millionaires, while the number of female MPs is close to 14 percent.
