The BJP’s central leadership will for the first time review the Lok Sabha electoral defeat in Uttar Pradesh. BJP's National General Secretary BL Santosh is on a two-day visit to Lucknow, where he will examine the review report and discuss the defeat with party leaders. A performance report of the Lok Sabha elections will be presented before BL Santosh in UP, where the state leadership of the BJP has already prepared a report on the lost seats.
The leaders have taken several days to review the situation, sending 40 BJP leaders to assess the lost constituencies. The BJP and its allies contested 75 and 5 seats respectively, with the BJP only managing to win 33, marking a loss of 29 seats. In contrast, the BJP and its ally Apna Dal won 62 and 2 seats respectively in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
In the party office, BL Santosh will conduct an initial review meeting on the elections’ results. Although these reviews have been ongoing at the state level, this will be the first time a review report is presented before the central leadership.
For this review, all regional presidents have been summoned to the meeting. Inquisitive, the leaders want to understand why the BJP did not perform well this time. Reports suggest that discussions will cover everything from internal party disputes to the selection of candidates. Additionally, the BJP's extended state executive meeting is scheduled for the 14th of this month, with the party's National President JP Nadda in attendance.
Typically, such meetings would involve district presidents, but this time even Mandal presidents will participate. A Legislative Assembly can have between three to six Mandal presidents. Sources reveal that 1918 Mandal presidents have been invited to the state executive. The BJP aims to foster unity and avoid escalating conflicts.
