Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister Vijay Shah recently made a controversial remark about Colonel Sofia Qureshi. Following demands from the Congress for his resignation, Shah issued an apology. To mitigate the situation, the BJP dispatched a few leaders to her home. With a message from the Madhya Pradesh BJP Chief VD Sharma, several BJP leaders visited Colonel Sofia Qureshi.
Upon the instruction of VD Sharma, former MLA Manvendra Singh and other BJP leaders visited Sofia Qureshi's residence in Chhatarpur, Naugaon. They met the family and acknowledged Sofia as 'the nation's daughter.'
The BJP high command is highly displeased with Minister Vijay Shah's remark, which led Shah to apologize as the controversy intensified. Meanwhile, on Tuesday evening, Shah met with State BJP President VD Sharma and organizational head Hitanand Sharma to offer an explanation.
Congress Criticizes the Minister
State Congress President Jitu Patwari, in a conversation with Aaj Tak, labeled Vijay Shah's statement as irresponsible. He stated, "At a time when the entire nation stands united with the government against terrorism, a senior BJP minister makes such hateful comments. On one hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi salutes the army, while on the other, his party's senior minister claims to have sent their sister. Whose sister? Terrorists' sister? Who was this comment directed at?"
