After the demise of Mukhtar Ansari, a wave of alarm took hold in the town of Banda, Uttar Pradesh. Now, a BJP leader has been the recipient of life-threatening warnings, sending authorities scrambling to ensure safety.

The individual who made the phone call referred to BJP leader Mudit Sharma as a Hindu nationalist leader, stating, "We hold you accountable for the deaths of our Atiq and Mukhtar brothers; all of you are now marked targets. We have the location of your residence."

Reeling from the threats, Mudit Sharma immediately filed a complaint with the police, pleading for swift action. The authorities lodged an FIR and commenced legal proceedings. The BJP leader serves as a regional coordinator in the Bundelkhand area.

Mudit Sharma expressed his concerns, "On April 2nd, after 10 AM, I received three WhatsApp calls threatening my well-being. The caller insisted that I was on their list."

He added, "Upon inquiring who was calling, the caller demanded that I listen and respond with only 'yes' or 'no.' Subsequent calls alluded to the involvement of individuals from my district in the killings of Atiq and Mukhtar, claiming they had my home address and professed their ability to carry out their threats."

Sharma has appealed for protection for himself and his family, extending his plea from the district level to the state government. While the police have registered the case, the call for safeguarding remains urgent.

SP Ankur Aggarwal shed light on the situation, stating, "A complaint was received at Kotwali Nagar, revealing threats and intimidation attempts made through an international number, even mentioning certain mobsters' names. Immediate legal action has been initiated against the accused, with a dedicated team set to undertake strict measures."
