In recent days, Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) national president Chirag Paswan has questioned several significant decisions of the central government. In response, BJP is preparing to rein him in by once again giving preference to his uncle, Pashupati Paras, within the NDA alliance.
It is believed that Pashupati Paras, who has been on the political sidelines in recent months, may soon be appointed as the governor of a state or the chairman of an important central board.
BJP Might Give Paras Significant Responsibility
If BJP elevates Pashupati Paras to the position of state governor or chairman of a central board, it would place him on par with Chirag Paswan. The BJP aims to control Chirag through Pashupati Paras' elevated position.
In recent days, Chirag Paswan opposed key decisions of the central government, such as the Waqf Bill and lateral entry into government jobs. He also opposed the Supreme Court's decision to demarcate creamy layers within scheduled caste and scheduled tribe quotas.
BJP Feels Uneasy
The BJP has been visibly uneasy with Chirag Paswan's actions. To control him, the party is politically activating his uncle, with whom he has a longstanding rivalry. Elevating Pashupati Paras is BJP's clear message to Chirag to refrain from interfering in key central decisions.
Paras on the Sidelines
It should be noted that Pashupati Paras has been on the political sidelines in recent months. Despite staying with the NDA for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP did not grant him a single seat to contest in Bihar, causing Paras to express his dissatisfaction. Nevertheless, he remains within the NDA.
Recently, Pashupati Paras met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi, fueling speculation that Paras' stature may soon rise, possibly being appointed as the governor of a state or the chairman of a central board.
