In Bihar, prior to the assembly elections, the Supreme Court's questions concerning the special intensive revision of the voter list have led the Aam Aadmi Party to level serious accusations against the Election Commission and the BJP. On Thursday, AAP's national media coordinator and senior leader Anurag Dhanda declared that it is evident again that the BJP manipulates voter lists before every election, with the Election Commission aiding them.
He further stated that this tactic by BJP is not new. In Haryana, Maharashtra, and Delhi, time and again, large scale manipulations in the voter list have been observed before elections. In some places, millions of names were removed, in others fake names were added, and in some instances, deliberate alterations were made to disturb the caste and regional balance.
'Election Infrastructure Under Scrutiny...'
Anurag Dhanda mentioned that the same conspiracy is now being repeated in Bihar. The Supreme Court has today demanded answers from the Election Commission on issues that both the public and Aam Aadmi Party have been raising consistently, yet neither the Election Commission nor the central Modi government have provided clear responses so far.
Anurag Dhanda stated, "Serious questions are now being raised about the Election Commission across the nation. This is the same organization entrusted by the public to conduct fair elections, but it now appears to operate in a biased manner. Especially before elections, when clandestine changes are made to the voter list, the entire electoral framework falls under question."
The Aam Aadmi Party has made three demands to the Election Commission:
Immediately halt the ongoing voter list revision process in Bihar.
Conduct an independent and judicial investigation into the entire voter revision process.
Provide all political parties with timely and transparent information, maintaining fairness and credibility in elections.
AAP leader Anurag Dhanda emphasized that if the Election Commission loses public trust, the foundation of democracy will be shaken. The public needs assurance that their vote is secure and that no political party is unjustly benefited.
He also stated that this is no longer just a concern for opposition parties, as the public is also distressed. The Election Commission should reflect on itself and review its operations to restore fairness.
