A unique incident unfolded outside the registry office in Sasaram, located in Bihar's Rohtas district, on Monday. A father of four and a mother of three arrived for a court marriage, only to be beaten with footwear by their own family in full public view. A high-voltage drama quickly played out on the street.
The event took place near the registry office on the old GT Road in the Nagar Thana area. According to sources, Dayashankar Ram, a resident of Dhanwa village in Shiv Sagar Thana, had originally arranged his daughter's marriage to Dharmashila Devi’s daughter from Dalmianagar. However, the parents, Dayashankar and Dharmashila, began conversing over the phone and eventually fell in love.
A Brawl Outside the Registry Office
It was reported that they had previously married in a temple and now wished to formalize the union through court marriage. When their families learned of their plans, they rushed to the registry office, leading to a chaotic scene. The couple was not only reprimanded but also attacked with footwear. Although police intervened to defuse the situation, tensions escalated.
Village Council Involvement
Dayashankar Ram’s first two wives had passed away, leaving him with three children. Meanwhile, Dharmashila Devi accused her husband Sunil Ram of domestic abuse, prompting her desire to start a new life with Dayashankar. Subsequently, the matter was taken to a village council, with everyone being transported there via auto-rickshaw.
