In the town of Saharsa, Bihar, the Durga temple visited by Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar witnessed a cleansing ritual performed by local youths using Ganga water. As part of the 'Stop Migration, Provide Jobs' march, Kanhaiya Kumar arrived in Bangaon late Tuesday night and addressed a gathering in the temple courtyard.
On Wednesday, led by municipal ward representative Amit Chaudhary, youths including Vishnu, Makhan, Anand, Suraj, Saroj, and Badal cleansed the spot where Kanhaiya had given his speech, purifying it with Ganga water. The youths claimed that Kanhaiya Kumar was previously accused of sedition, and his controversial statements are well-known.
On Tuesday night, Kanhaiya was warmly welcomed by locals and Congress supporters at Bhagwati Sthan in Bangaon with traditional ceremonies involving pag, chadar, and garlands. The very next day, youths purified this place with Ganga water.
This incident has sparked a viral video, stirring a debate across the region.

In a conversation with the Indian Express, Congress spokesperson Gyan Ranjan Gupta inquired, "Are only RSS and BJP supporters considered religious, while others are treated as untouchables? This act has insulted the descendants of Lord Parashuram. Have we entered a new era of cultural extremism where non-BJP parties and their supporters are deemed untouchable?"
Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar opted not to comment on the matter.
However, BJP spokesperson Asit Nath Tiwari remarked, "Firstly, we need to verify the identities of those who did the temple cleansing after Kanhaiya Kumar's visit. If the temple is cleansed post his visit, it signals a rejection of his brand of politics."
Local residents of Bangaon expressed surprise over such an event taking place in a temple frequented by people from all communities and backgrounds.
Kanhaiya Kumar is currently on the 'Stop Migration, Provide Jobs' march, with the first phase starting on March 16th from West Champaran and concluding on March 31st in Kishanganj, ahead of the Bihar state assembly elections.
