Alliance convenes second meeting in Patna to resolve seat allotment

The Grand Alliance is now in active mode for the Bihar elections. A meeting is set to take place at Sadaqat Ashram in Patna to resolve seat distribution issues.

The political buzz is heating up from Patna to Madhubani as the Bihar Assembly elections approach. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Jhanjharpur, Madhubani, attending a program on Panchayati Raj Day. Here, PM Modi will announce developmental projects worth thousands of crores for Bihar and address a public meeting. Meanwhile, the Grand Alliance will hold a meeting in Patna today. This is the first meeting since the formation of the Coordination Committee led by Tejashwi Yadav, and it is the second meeting in a week.

This second meeting within a week by the Grand Alliance will take place at Bihar Congress office Sadaqat Ashram. The agenda of this meeting is reported to be seat sharing. For the first time, formal discussions on seat allocation among the constituent parties of the alliance will take place. The meeting will commence at 1 PM and will be attended by leaders like Tejashwi Yadav from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Bihar Congress in-charge Krishna Allavaru, Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahni, and leaders from the Left parties.

Discussion on Minimum Common Program

In this upcoming meeting at Sadaqat Ashram, there will also be discussions on the alliance's shared agenda for the assembly elections and the Minimum Common Program. After the meeting, leaders from all constituent parties will conduct a joint press conference where the talks and decisions made during the meeting may be disclosed. Notably, the first meeting of the Grand Alliance leaders in anticipation of the Bihar Assembly elections took place at RJD's state office in Patna on April 17.

In the previous meeting, there were speculations about Tejashwi Yadav being declared the CM face of the Grand Alliance. VIP had supported Tejashwi's candidacy for Chief Minister. RJD had drawn a line that Tejashwi would indeed be the CM face. This matter was discussed, but a consensus on the announcement could not be reached. To make decisions related to the assembly elections and to ensure coordination among the constituent parties, the Grand Alliance decided to form a Coordination Committee, led by Tejashwi Yadav.
