When Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar bowed on stage in Darbhanga to touch Prime Minister Narendra Modi's feet, the PM stopped him with a firm yet respectful grasp and greeted him with folded hands. Eminent leaders from BJP and JDU were present during this event. The moment has gained wide attention on social media. This is not the first time Nitish Kumar has tried to touch PM Modi's feet on stage.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bihar, where he participated in a governmental event in Darbhanga. He announced over 12,000 crores worth of projects as a gift to the people of Bihar. The Prime Minister laid the foundation, inaugurated, and dedicated 25 developmental projects related to health, road, rail, and energy, including the Darbhanga AIIMS. The gathering saw the presence of Union Minister Chirag Paswan, Nityanand Rai, Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary, and other leaders.

Nitish Kumar's Previous Attempts to Touch PM Modi's Feet

This marked the third time Nitish Kumar attempted to touch Prime Minister Modi's feet. During an NDA parliamentary meeting in Delhi, Bihar's CM tried in vain as Modi stopped him. Opposition leaders in Bihar criticized Kumar for these gestures.

During the promotion for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, while seated together on stage, PM Modi extended his hand in greeting, but Kumar reached down towards Modi's feet. The RJD criticized Kumar heavily, sharing this incident’s video. During Modi's third visit to Bihar for Nalanda University's new campus inauguration, CM Kumar surprisingly held Modi's hand and checked his fingers. This moment also went viral on social platforms.

Nitish Government's Concern for the Poor's Health: PM

At the Darbhanga event, PM Modi paid tribute to Bhojpuri folk singer Sharda Sinha, seizing the opportunity to critique Lalu’s administration. He mentioned that no government before Nitish Kumar's took responsibility for the health of the poor, who had little option but to endure illness silently. He further ensured that seniors above 70 would benefit under the Ayushman Scheme, fulfilling a promise he made prior to the Lok Sabha elections.
