Under the leadership of Prashant Kishor, the Jan Suraj Party has filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court, labeling the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 as 'illegal'. The party is urging that last year's elections be annulled and fresh elections be conducted decisively.
The Jan Suraj Party accuses the state government of allegedly transferring ₹10,000 into women's accounts during the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), branding it as "corrupt practice" and an attempt to buy votes.
The party claims that the misuse of power has completely undermined electoral fairness. Prashant Kishor's party has also requested the Supreme Court to direct the Election Commission of India (ECI) to implement stringent measures to curb the announcement of 'freebies' and populist schemes just before elections.
It is noteworthy that the Jan Suraj Party faced a significant defeat in last year's Bihar Assembly Elections. They fielded a total of 238 candidates, out of which 236 lost their deposits. This implies that 99.16% of Jan Suraj's candidates failed to secure their deposits. In terms of total vote percentage, Jan Suraj garnered around 2% votes.
