A thief attempting to steal coins and artifacts worth approximately 150 million from the State Museum in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, was caught after failing to climb a 25-foot-high wall. This incident thus prevented a major theft at the museum. During police questioning, the thief revealed that he got the idea from watching the movie 'Dhoom' and had visited the museum many times with his son to plan the theft. He even practiced climbing poles to scale the wall.
The thief said he entered the State Museum on Sunday afternoon by purchasing a ticket, then hid under the stairs. A few hours later, when the museum was locked, he came out and noticed a few home guards and private guards patrolling outside. After the theft, he tried to jump over the 25-foot wall but failed. The police suspect that the CCTV cameras and alarms were turned off, and the doors were weak, allowing the thief to execute his plan with ease.
On Tuesday morning, when the museum staff arrived at work, they were shocked to see broken locks and empty boxes. They immediately informed the Shyamla Hills police station. Upon arrival, the police found locks broken on two rooms, which contained gold, silver, and other valuable artifacts. The museum staff stated that the museum was closed on Sunday evening and remained shut on Monday due to a holiday, after securing all rooms with locks and seals.

The accused is from Gaya, Bihar
The police, upon arriving at the scene, first ensured all gates of the museum premises were locked and launched a search operation with several teams. The injured accused was found during this operation, having failed to climb the 25-foot wall. When asked his name, the suspect identified himself as Vinod Yadav from Gaya district in Bihar. A bag was found with him containing gold and silver jewelry and coins stolen from the State Museum, estimated to be worth around 150 million.

The police recovered a total of 98 coins from various periods including the Gupta era to the Mughal era, 75 silver coins, 38 copper coins, a gold medal, and 12 mixed metal medals, along with priceless silver and mixed metal articles from the Royal Gallery, all valued between 120 to 150 million rupees.
