The online trucking platform Blackbuck has now decided to shift its office located in Bengaluru's Bellandur. The co-founder and CEO, Rajesh Yabaji, shared this news on social media platform X on Tuesday. He stated that due to congestion, traffic jams, and road infrastructure problems, the company has decided to vacate its location on Outer Ring Road (ORR) in Bellandur.
CEO Explains the Reason in X Post
The ORR is one of the IT corridors of Bengaluru City, frequently facing traffic issues and heavy congestion. Addressing these issues, CEO Rajesh Yabaji wrote in his post on X, 'Bellandur in Bengaluru has been our office and home for the past nine years, but working here has become very difficult, prompting our decision to leave.'
In his social media post, Yabaji further mentioned that the average commuting time for his colleagues has exceeded 1.5 hours (one way). The roads are riddled with potholes and covered in dust, yet there seems to be little desire to rectify these conditions despite years of deterioration. Highlighting these issues and the poor state of the roads, he said he does not foresee any change in the next five years. The company stated that we are seeking an alternative location in Bengaluru.
'Government Should Intervene'
Blackbuck has decided to wind up its operations from Bellandur due to potholes, congestion, and traffic jams, but it's not the only company. In light of the recent incident, Greater Bengaluru IT Companies and Industries Association's Secretary Krishna Kumar Gowda expressed deep concern about the neglect of infrastructure on ORR, characterized by slow-moving traffic, endless potholes, and incredible travel times.
Gowda, in his statement, said that these issues, causing major companies to consider leaving the city, indicate an urgent need for government intervention. We demand a transparent roadmap to improve roads, metro connectivity, and public utilities. He said we are eager to collaborate with the government and authorities to reestablish Bengaluru as India's technology capital.
This Incident Follows a Viral Video
According to a PTI report, the decision by Blackbuck to relocate its office from Bellandur follows a viral video made by school children traveling in a bus on Bengaluru's rough roads, revealing the city's road conditions and daily challenges faced by travelers. In response, on September 14, the state's Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister, D. K. Shivakumar, announced plans to enhance road development in the city.
The Deputy CM mentioned that 11 billion rupees have been allocated for this purpose. He said, 'We are committed to ensuring that every constituency benefits from these funds, creating smooth, pothole-free roads throughout the city.'
