Recently, a military parade in Beijing, China's capital, became the center of attention. Heads of state from several prominent countries attended the event. However, before the parade commenced, a video featuring a discussion between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping went viral, where they were talking about human longevity. Yet, this video was unexpectedly pulled down.
During Beijing's Victory Parade on September 3rd, an off-mic conversation between Putin and Xi Jinping was captured. This candid dialogue happened as they were heading towards Tiananmen Square in Beijing. They discussed extending human lifespan through biotech and organ transplants, pondering the fascinating possibility of immortality.
In the conversation, Xi remarked in Mandarin that in the past, human life rarely exceeded 70 years, but nowadays, a 70-year-old is often considered young. Some speculate that this century may see humans living up to 150 years.
To this, Putin suggested that with advancements in biotechnology, continuous organ transplants could become feasible. The longer you live, the younger you feel, potentially leading to immortality. However, this conversation was made in a light-hearted manner.
But why did Reuters remove the video?
This interaction between Putin and Xi was an off-mic moment, meaning the microphone was inadvertently left on, recording the private exchange.
Nonetheless, Reuters News removed the four-minute video from its platform on Friday. It has been said that China's state media requested Reuters to take down the video.
On September 3rd, at Tiananmen Square, China hosted its largest military parade to date, marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. This parade is considered a showcase of China's military prowess.
