The dreaded serial killer of Bareilly has finally been caught. His name is Kuldeep. Allegations against him include the murder of nine middle-aged women over the span of about 14 months. Each murder was executed by strangulation in isolated fields. In police interrogation, serial killer Kuldeep confessed his deep-seated hatred for women, which led him to select and kill them. Kuldeep shared the tragic story behind this animosity.
Let’s dive into the entire case...
In reality, Kuldeep's biological mother and two sisters had passed away. His father remarried, and his stepmother was abusive towards him. When Kuldeep got married, his wife left him after some time, further cementing his hatred for women. This sequence of events led to his targeted killing of women.

In his confession to Bareilly police, Kuldeep mentioned that his father, Baburam, married another woman while his biological mother was still alive. According to Kuldeep, his stepmother instigated his father to abuse his biological mother. Kuldeep and his sisters also faced physical abuse, leading to the deaths of his mother and sisters due to his father's atrocities and rampant abuse.
These events imbued Kuldeep with hatred, making him act irrationally. However, he hadn’t become a serial killer at that time. In 2014, Kuldeep got married but had become violent by then and started abusing his wife. His abusive behaviors forced his wife to leave him. After his wife left, Kuldeep began living in jungles and deserted places, adopting peculiar behaviors like walking long distances on foot and avoiding mobile phones.
Kuldeep became addicted to drugs and began plotting to become a serial killer. He began targeting women aged between 45 and 55. Initially, he stalked his victims and only attacked when he was sure they were alone. He would drag them to a field and strangle them with a saree or dupatta.
After killing the women, Kuldeep would often drag the corpses and tie a knot around their necks to ensure they were dead. Kuldeep confessed to killing six women using this method.
What he did after murdering the women
On Friday, August 9, Bareilly's SSP Anurag Arya disclosed this serial killing case and presented Kuldeep before the media. He revealed Kuldeep's arrest for involvement in several female homicides in the region, emphasizing his hatred against women. Kuldeep admitted to six murders and remains under interrogation.

According to the police, Kuldeep would demand sexual favors from the women he had captured in isolated locations. If they resisted, he would strangle them with their sarees or dupattas. After the murders, he often kept a memento of the deceased, like a sickle, lipstick, bindi, or ID card.
It’s noteworthy that nine women were killed over 14 months within a 25-kilometer radius in the Shahi and Shishgarh police station areas of Bareilly. The police released sketches following these incidents and arrested the serial killer within 48 hours of releasing the sketches.
