Uttar Pradesh News:

The elaborate efforts of the Bahraich district administration to ensure the peaceful completion of the Durga idol immersion yesterday evening (October 13) crumbled amidst gunfire and stone-pelting. In this violence, a young man participating in the immersion procession was killed, igniting chaos throughout the district. Enraged individuals vandalized vehicles and set properties, including the suspect's house, ablaze.

The alarming escalation in violence was fueled by the sight of Ramgopal Mishra's body, brutally riddled with bullets. Witnesses took immediate offense, seeing the multiple gunshot wounds on Ramgopal's corpse. His body displayed over half a dozen bullet marks, a wound on the forehead, and several bruises.

Protestors laid his body on the road in front of Bahraich Medical College, demanding strict action, forcing authorities into a panicked state. Even Mahsi's BJP MLA Sureshwar Singh struggled to appease the crowd and was met with significant public anger as they demanded justice.

Gunfire During Immersion, Ramgopal Fatally Shot, Tensions Soar

It was reported that Ramgopal Mishra (aged 22) from Rehua Mansur village near Haradi Police Station in Bahraich went ahead of the idol in the procession around 6 PM yesterday. The news of his passing enflamed tensions at Maharajganj, with furious protestors vandalizing properties, including Abdul Hameed's house, setting them aflame. This led to an immediate suspension of all immersion activities across the district until order was restored under military supervision.

BJP Legislator Faces Public Wrath

The aftermath of Maharajganj's incident reverberated through Bahraich city. The victim's family and hundreds of demonstrators placed Ramgopal's body on the road at the Medical College entrance, demanding severe punishment for the perpetrators through vehement slogans. The district administration, alongside BJP MLA Sureshwar Singh, worked tirelessly to diffuse tensions by persuading the family to perform Ramgopal’s post-mortem.

A Newlywed's Tragic End

Ramgopal, who fell victim to this violence, had been married merely six months prior. His household is in turmoil following the incident.
