In Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, the police initiated raids in two separate police stations regarding illegal religious conversions. Allegedly, conversions were being orchestrated under the guise of rituals and healing, leading to the arrest of three individuals, including one woman, from Kandharapur and Maharajganj police stations. The police assured that action is ongoing in this case.

SP Azamgarh, revealing details of the case, stated that complaints about forced religious conversions had been received for some time. Consequently, action was taken in two different police stations under different operations on Sunday. This resulted in the arrest of three individuals, comprising one woman and two men. Investigations are underway to identify their supporters and funding sources, with teams established under the leadership of two COs.

The police, responding with strict measures, confirmed that whenever concrete evidence emerges in this matter, actions will be enforced under the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Conversion Act, sections 351 and 299. Clear directives have been issued to take stern action against those orchestrating mass conversions, their accomplices, and sponsors. Investigations and actions continue in this case.
