The renowned political figure, former president of the Wrestling Federation (WFI), and former MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, has once again powerfully marked his political presence with his 'Victory Parade' on the holy grounds of Ayodhya. Following the relief granted by Delhi's Patiala House Court in a POCSO Act case, Singh arrived in Ayodhya to a grand reception at Maharshi Valmiki International Airport, welcomed by the resonant beats of drums and a shower of flowers. His journey began with a prayer at the Hanumangarhi Temple.
Thousands of Supporters, a Fleet of Vehicles, and Resounding Slogans
This ‘Victory Parade’ is seen as a significant display of strength. Nearly 60 vehicles formed a convoy on Ayodhya's roads to welcome Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, joined by over a thousand supporters. Hundreds of young men waving flags accompanied the convoy, filling the air with chants of ‘Brij Bhushan Zindabad’ and ‘Truth Triumphs’.
Devotional Display at Hanumangarhi
Singh commenced his journey in Ayodhya with a ritual at the Hanumangarhi Temple, seeking blessings from Bajrangbali. Post his prayers, he briefly spoke with the media, expressing gratitude to his supporters and hailing it as a victory of justice.
'This is the Triumph of Truth and Will Continue to Prevail'
Responding to the case, Brij Bhushan’s son and MLA Prateek Bhushan Singh posted on X (formerly Twitter), asserting that they have achieved judicial victory over a false and fabricated case. Every baseless allegation is now falling apart in the court of justice. He declared it a victory of truth that will withstand time. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh faced accusations of sexual harassment from female wrestlers, including a minor among the complainants. The closure of the POCSO case is considered major relief legally and politically for Singh.
Two FIRs Were Registered
Delhi Police registered two FIRs against Brij Bhushan at the Connaught Place police station, one under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and the other under the POCSO Act. Following the withdrawal of charges by the minor complainant in the POCSO case, Delhi Police filed a closure report. However, charges under the other sexual harassment case, based on complaints from five female wrestlers, remain framed against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. He has challenged the FIR, chargesheet, and trial court proceedings in the Delhi High Court, with the hearing currently pending. Earlier, on May 17, the court summoned the minor complainant to be present on May 26, to decide on accepting the police’s closure report.
