In a startling show of violence, suspected ULFA militants unleashed terror in Assam's Goalpara and Dhubri districts, orchestrating eight IED blasts within just 90 minutes under the veil of night. Despite the chaos, immediate reports show no injuries. The blasts targeted AIUDF officials and bustling marketplaces.

Police sources revealed that ULFA had called for a boycott of Republic Day events alongside other militant groups.

The first explosion specifically targeted the residential compound of Moinuddin Ahmed, an All India Democratic United Front MLA, in Jaleshwar, Goalpara district.

Courageous locals managed to capture a suspected militant, leading to an altercation that reportedly resulted in his death. However, no official confirmation has been provided yet.

Authorities have confiscated three motorcycles, allegedly used by the terrorists, from the vicinity. Notably, a bomb planted at the MLA's residence prompted the arrival of a police bomb squad on the scene. Another IED explosion unfolded at Jaleshwar High School.

Further havoc was wreaked with explosions occurring in Moriakuchi Bazaar, Gauranagar, Porahita, and Jamadar Bazaar within Goalpara district. Meanwhile, in Dhubri district, the areas of Ariketa, Sirajkuti, and Mitarteri bore the brunt of the bombings.
