Before the much-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup, the Jammu-Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has issued vital advice for Kashmiri students. The association emphasizes that students should view the match with a sporting spirit, avoiding any social media activities that could potentially lead to difficulties for them.

Prioritize Studies and Careers

National Coordinator Nasir Khuhami stresses the importance of focusing on education and future career prospects. He remarked, “Students come away from home primarily to study and build their futures. Their families have made significant sacrifices—fathers have worked hard, brothers have taken loans, sisters have sold jewelry, and mothers pray daily for their safety.”

Previous Actions Against Students

Khuhami warns of past events where, during India-Pakistan matches, some Kashmiri students were detained, arrested, or faced legal actions due to their involvement in social media discussions or posts, severely impacting their studies and careers.

Stay Away from Social Media Debates

The association advises students to refrain from engaging in debates, posting, or any online activities that may trigger disputes. It states, “Enjoy the game with a sportsman’s spirit and steer clear of unnecessary controversies.”

Caution in Political and Emotional Atmosphere

Khuhami acknowledges the deep political and emotional significance of the India-Pakistan match, advising students to be cautious and prioritize their and their families' safety by avoiding overt support for either team.

Sports as a Symbol of Brotherhood and Peace

The association conveys that beyond entertainment, sports communicate messages of brotherhood, discipline, and peace. Khuhami reiterates, “This match should be a celebration of sportsmanship, not a cause of division.”

Recollection of the Pahalgam Attack

The association recalls the earlier Pahalgam terrorist attack, which brinked both countries towards conflict and led to several challenges for Kashmiri students nationwide. Therefore, maintaining peace and harmony during this sensitive time is crucial.
