Actress Laila Khan Family Massacre:
Spearheading into 2002, a Kannada film titled 'Makeup' premiered, marking the beginning of Laila Patel's cinematic journey – a commencement that hardly sparked recognition. Fate soon smiled upon Laila, granting her an opportunity to work alongside famed actor Rajesh Khanna in the movie 'Wafaa: A Deadly Love Story'. Under the glimmer of her new moniker, Laila Khan, she began to gain renown.
Controversial Marriage to a Bangladeshi National
In the shadows of her rising career, Laila engaged in matrimony—a convention hardly criminal—except for the man she chose, a member of the prohibited Bangladeshi organization Harakat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami Bangladesh. Her name was repeatedly entangled with controversy.
January 30, 2011, Mumbai
Hailing from an affluent family, Laila, along with her mother Selina, older sister Hasmina, twin siblings Imran and Zara, and cousin Reshma set off from Mumbai to enjoy a vacation at Igatpuri, 126 km away. They embarked in high spirits, unaware of the impending dark twist in their tale.
February 9, 2011, Igatpuri
Upon reaching their Igatpuri farmhouse, a conversation between Laila's mother and her aunt unveiled that Selina was with her third husband, Parvez Iqbal Tak. Post that dialogue, another word between the sisters never transpired, heralded by the abrupt disappearance of the entire family.
As fret escalated, Laila's father Nadir Shah Patel, Selina's first husband, lodged a complaint suspecting the abduction of his daughter and her family, implicating Tak and his associate Asif Shaikh. Bollywood director Rakesh Sawant echoed this claim. Sawant had been working with Laila on a film titled 'Jannat'.
The high-profile case spurred thorough police investigation and, following rigorous scrutiny, Tak was arrested in a fraud case in Jammu Kashmir—subsequently revealing the gruesome mass murder plot that took place back in Maharashtra.
Through intense interrogation, details emerged: Parvez Iqbal Tak, driven by disputes over property and blinded by rage, confessed to murdering the family in their Igatpuri farmhouse, burying the victims near the property. In May, the bones of Laila, Selina, and their relatives were uncovered on site.
The motives behind the carnage pointed to Tak's fears of being abandoned as Selina prepared to relocate the family to Dubai. The final chapter of this harrowing tale concluded with Tak receiving the capital punishment for his heinous crimes.
