Brave Uncle Risks Life to Save Niece from Leopard's Grip

In a heart-stopping incident in Chandrapur, Maharashtra, a 7-year-old girl sustained severe injuries from a leopard attack but was rescued by her uncle who sprinted after the predator. Afrin Sheikh was playing in her courtyard when the leopard struck, and her screams drew her uncle outside just in time to see his niece’s neck clasped in the animal's jaws as it dragged her towards the jungle. His ground gave way at the sight.

A Leopard Carries Away the 7-Year-Old Girl

The uncle raised an alarm and courageously managed to free his niece from the leopard's jaws, rushing her to the hospital immediately. He recounted chasing the leopard for nearly 500 meters before the animal reluctantly released the child and fled back into the jungle.

The girl survived, though gravely wounded, and was admitted to the district hospital for treatment. Located near a jungle, this Pandit Deendayal Ward in Ballarpur is a constant threat with the potential danger of wild animals. This incident marks the first time a leopard has abducted a child, leaving the community reeling with fear.

Uncle Saves His Niece After a Fierce Struggle

In response, the Forest Department team arrived at the scene, installed trap cameras and cages around the area, and assured that the leopard will be captured soon. Officer Naresh Bhanvre is closely monitoring the site, with four cages in place. The department is also providing full assistance for the injured child's treatment.
