The main accused in the Amethi murder case, Chandan Verma, has been apprehended by the police in Uttar Pradesh. Chandan Verma was wanted in connection with the murder of a husband, wife, and their two daughters in the Shivratanganj area of Amethi. The revelations from Chandan's WhatsApp status left everyone stunned. Indeed, Chandan had ominously stated in one status update, 'Five people are going to die, and I will soon show you.'
What Did the Police Reveal at the Press Conference?
Following the arrest of the suspect, the Amethi police organized a press briefing. The principal suspect, Chandan Verma, was present at the media briefing. Amethi SP Anoop Singh informed, "Five teams were promptly assembled for the investigation. Chandan Verma was nabbed from the toll plaza. The accused was involved in a romantic relationship with the deceased. Recently, their relationship had soured significantly."
He further mentioned that the firearm and motorbike used during the crime would also be recovered. Empty pistol cartridges found at the scene were fired from a singular weapon. The accused executed his plan by discharging rounds from one gun.
SP Anoop Singh added that the family was shot ten times in total. After committing the massacre, the accused, Chandan, attempted to shoot himself. During the incident, he was so enraged that he shot anyone who crossed his path.

Allegations Against Chandan Verma by Relatives
In Amethi's Shivratanganj, the murder of a teacher's family left relatives in deep shock. When the post-mortem was over, and the four bodies arrived in Gaadagnj village in Raebareli, chaos ensued. Amidst this turmoil, hundreds of villagers, police forces, regional lawmakers, and leaders from the Samajwadi Party and Congress were present. Poonam Bharti, the mother of the deceased teacher Sunil's wife, accused, 'Chandan Verma continuously harassed my daughter. Even after a complaint was filed on August 18th, he continued to threaten Poonam, her parents, and Sunil. He insisted they reconcile, threatening to do anything otherwise. Chandan would send inappropriate pictures of the daughter to blackmail her.'
Chandan's Empty Magazine Found at The Scene
According to police sources, the empty magazine found at the scene belonged to Chandan Verma's pistol. He fired several rounds during the murder of four people, with casings recovered from the location. The post-mortem report revealed the teacher was shot once, his wife twice, and both daughters were each shot once.

Chandan Verma Had Previous Incarceration
Poonam Bharti, the wife of the late Sunil Kumar, had filed a previous case against Chandan Verma in Raebareli under charges of harassment, assault, and under the SC-ST Act. During that instance, the police had detained Chandan Verma and imprisoned him. Chandan lived on rent in Tilakot Mohalla, Raebareli. The day after Poonam accused him, he faced immediate arrest by the police.
