All eyes are on Uttar Pradesh's Kannauj parliamentary seat as speculations rise about SP chief Akhilesh Yadav contesting the election. Although Tej Pratap Yadav was declared the candidate by the party earlier, his failure to file nominations has sparked rumors of Akhilesh stepping into the fray. Meanwhile, Kannauj's BJP MP and candidate Subrat Pathak has targeted the SP leader. Pathak says that Akhilesh Yadav's arrogance is crumbling, and it's good that he's entering the election battleground himself.

Speaking to 'Aaj Tak', Subrat Pathak responded to the news of Akhilesh Yadav potentially contesting from Kannauj, saying he had previously advised Akhilesh to run himself. However, Akhilesh thought he could win by proxy. But that’s not the case. Therefore, he is now stepping into the field himself.

Pathak mentioned that he had warned Akhilesh, even if someone from his Saifai was sent to contest, their deposit would be forfeited in Kannauj. 'I am pleased that he is coming to contest himself. His arrogance will be his downfall,' Pathak added.

According to BJP candidate Pathak, if Akhilesh had made Tej Pratap Yadav run from Kannauj, he would have faced the SP workers’ discontent, and his party would have ended. 'The ground reality here is different,' he concluded.

Pathak stated that Akhilesh’s candidacy will expose his misdeeds to the public. No matter who contests from the Saifai family, their deposit would be forfeited. 'It's a good outcome that Akhilesh Yadav is coming forward to contest from Kannauj himself, dispelling his own illusions,' he said.

It's noteworthy that Kannauj's seat has been considered an SP stronghold, as the party won all elections here from 1998 to 2014. Akhilesh and Dimple Yadav have also been successful candidates from this seat. However, in the 2019 general elections, Subrat Pathak defeated Dimple, setting the stage for a fascinating contest this time around.
