The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of India has tightened safety checks for the entire fleet of Boeing Dreamliner aircraft. This decision arises after the catastrophic incident involving Air India Flight AI171 destined for London from Ahmedabad. The DGCA has instructed Air India to enforce a mandatory one-time special inspection process starting from the midnight of June 15, 2025, for all departures from India.

The DGCA has specified several crucial pre-flight technical inspections, including fuel parameter monitoring, cabin air compressor system checks, electronic engine control tests, engine fuel actuator operation, oil system audits, and hydraulic system assessments. Additionally, a thorough review of pre-takeoff parameters has been mandated.

Furthermore, the DGCA has ordered the incorporation of a 'Flight Control Inspection' within transit checks, and this protocol must continue until further notice. Power assurance checks within two weeks have also been made compulsory. The directive includes a review of repetitive technical snags in Boeing Dreamliners over the past 15 days, with an urgency placed on resolving all related maintenance work expeditiously.

This initiative by the DGCA is aimed at bolstering the safety mechanisms of Air India to prevent such incidents in the future, thereby safeguarding passengers' lives and property.
