A woman in the nation's capital, Delhi, was arrested by police in AIIMS hospital's hostel for posing as a doctor to steal jewelry. The accused is 43 years old.
Reports indicate that the woman is a resident of Ghaziabad and has completed a diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology and a bachelor's degree in science. Additionally, she has worked as a lab assistant in a private hospital.
According to the police, the woman roamed the AIIMS campus in a doctor's coat, exploiting lapses in security to enter hostel rooms that often had open doors.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ankit Chauhan stated, 'She planned to roam AIIMS campus wearing a doctor's coat without arousing suspicion and targeted hostel rooms whose doors were unlocked.'

Officer Ankit Chauhan mentioned that on March 27, a case was filed at Hauz Khas Police Station under Section 305 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code. The complaint was made by a doctor.
The complainant reported the theft of two gold chains, a gold bangle, a gold ring, a pair of gold earrings, 20,000 rupees cash, and 700 Malaysian ringgit. The police reviewed footage from over 100 CCTV cameras in AIIMS, spotting a woman in a doctor's coat attempting to access various hostel rooms at odd times.
Based on technical surveillance, the police identified the scooter used by the woman. Using the vehicle's registration details, they raided her residence in Brij Vihar, Ghaziabad, and arrested her.
The DCP mentioned that the police recovered the stolen jewelry, 4,500 rupees in cash, and the scooter. During interrogation, the woman admitted her fondness for wearing expensive jewelry and confessed to similar thefts carried out in the past.
