In the midst of incidents involving fraudulent officials in Gujarat, a fake Ticket Examiner was apprehended at Ahmedabad Railway Station. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) reported that around 10 PM on June 2, during a security check on the foot overbridge on the Sabarmati side, they noticed a suspicious individual in TTE uniform.
RPF's SIPF Piyush Chaudhary questioned him, but his responses were unsatisfactory. He was promptly taken to the post for thorough questioning, where he revealed his name as Shiv Shankar Jaiswal, aged 45, a resident of Sundarpur, Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh). The accused admitted to disguising in a fake uniform to extort money from passengers by pretending to verify tickets through QR codes.
RPF Captures Fake TTE
Previously, on May 30, he was seen engaging in similar activities at Ahmedabad Station. To avoid suspicion, he used a face mask. The investigation uncovered that he did not possess any valid railway identification or EFT. He only had an Aadhar card and ATM card on him.
Targeted Unassuming Passengers
The accused targeted labor class and less-educated passengers, charging them via QR code by exploiting errors in tickets or promising reserved berths from waiting lists. He has now been handed over to GRP Ahmedabad for further action. The railway administration urges passengers to show tickets only to authorized inspectors and promptly report any suspicious activities to the police.
