The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has achieved a significant breakthrough. They have uncovered a massive drug smuggling operation where illegal substances were imported under the guise of toys through the dark web. These drugs originated from the USA, Canada, and Thailand, and the revelation came after a detailed examination of long-suspected parcels by customs authorities.

The police confirmed that the seized drugs are valued at over INR 3.45 crore, including 10 kg of hybrid cannabis, 80 grams of hashish, 248 grams of MD drugs, 32 bottles of Cannabidiol oil, and 6 bottles of isopropyl nitrate. They stated that these drugs were ordered using inaccurate or incomplete addresses and fictitious names. Criminals were importing these items falsely labeled as toys, edibles, and protein powders into India.

Drugs Smuggled from Overseas

According to crime branch officials, the drugs were ordered via the dark web from the USA, Canada, and Thailand. Smugglers disguised the contraband among toys, soft toys, food items, and protein powders. Suspicious parcels had been lying with customs for a lengthy period, which, upon inspection, led to the exposure of this illegal operation.

When the police conducted a thorough investigation on these parcels, they confiscated 10 kg of hybrid cannabis (valued at INR 3.12 crore), 80 grams of hashish, 248 grams of MD drugs, 32 bottles of Cannabidiol oil, and 6 bottles of isopropyl nitrate. The total estimated value of these narcotics is INR 3.45 crore.

The crime branch revealed that the entire ring operated via the dark web. To avoid detection, the accused used false identities and incorrect or incomplete addresses for placing orders. They also used various addresses and IDs to avoid linking these deliveries to real identities when parcels were dispatched.

Ahmedabad Police's Investigation Underway

The crime branch has embarked on an exhaustive investigation to trace the intended recipients of this drug consignment and identify other racket members. This operation has caused a stir among drug traffickers, and the police are dedicatedly working on dismantling the entire network.
