Aam Aadmi Party member Swati Maliwal lodged a written grievance with Delhi Police, recounting a violent encounter with Vibhav. She states Vibhav slapped her and kicked her in the abdomen, along with other physical attacks. Following her complaint, Delhi Police registered an FIR against Vibhav Kumar, the former PA of CM Kejriwal. The allegations fall under sections of the IPC concerning outraging a woman's modesty, criminal intimidation, and voluntarily causing hurt. Later in the evening, Maliwal returned from AIIMS after medical care. Sources mentioned that during the late hours, police visited Vibhav Kumar's residence but found him absent, with only his wife present.
In her detailed account, Maliwal expresses grave concerns about the severity of the assault. She recounts multiple instances of unprovoked aggression while in the drawing room. On social media platform X, she conveyed the distressing nature of her experience and expects official action to follow. Maliwal extends gratitude to those who offered prayers and handles character assassination attempts with forgiveness, urging that focusing on critical election issues is more vital than her personal ordeal. She requests the BJP to refrain from politicizing the incident.
A Delhi Police unit, led by Additional Police Commissioner PS Kushwah, visited Maliwal's residence on Thursday (May 16) to record her statement. The National Women's Commission (NCW) has also summoned Vibhav Kumar on Friday (tomorrow).
Background of the Incident
On May 13, police sources claimed that a distress call was made to Delhi Police from the CM's house. The caller alleged, 'I'm at the CM's residence right now where I've been severely beaten by his PA, Vibhav Kumar.' Following the call, Maliwal visited the Civil Lines Police Station early Monday but initially withheld a written complaint. She left the station without filing it, and despite the surfacing allegations, Maliwal had not released a statement. However, AAP MP Sanjay Singh acknowledged the reported misconduct towards Maliwal.
