In the bustling capital of Delhi, on Saturday, the Aam Aadmi Party's roadshow was a display of unity and fortitude, remarkably led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife, Sunita Kejriwal. Aboard the campaign van, Sunita Kejriwal greeted the crowd with her hands folded in respectful acknowledgment, continuing her journey even as supporters carried banners stating 'I Love Kejriwal'. As the procession reached Kalyanpuri in East Delhi, ministers, legislators, councilors, and party workers from across Delhi joined in support. This event marked Sunita Kejriwal's first political campaign following Arvind Kejriwal's arrest.
Supporters Wave 'Miss You Kejriwal' Posters
Throughout the roadshow, followers were seen carrying placards with messages like 'Answer to jail is in the vote' and 'We miss you Kejriwal'. During the event, the CM's spouse made an impassioned appeal to the public. She said, 'Greetings and respects to everyone, my husband, your Chief Minister, has been forcefully incarcerated even though the court has not found him guilty.'
'People of Delhi Love Arvind Kejriwal'
Mrs. Kejriwal further stated, 'If the investigation takes 10 years, will they keep him in jail for 10 years? They've devised this new system of incarceration through the duration of the inquiry. Arvind Kejriwal has been diabetic for 22 years and on insulin for 12 years. A lack of insulin would lead to kidney and liver damage. Do they want to kill Arvind Kejriwal? The people of Delhi love him.'
An Appeal to Vote
She urged, 'What is Arvind Kejriwal's fault? He has made electricity free in Delhi, built schools for your children, and for this, he was arrested. Arvind Kejriwal is a lion. Nobody can bend his resolve. Today, the daughter of Mother India is requesting you to save the country from dictatorship. Understand the power of your vote. On the 25th of May, everyone go out and vote, save democracy. We will answer the jail through our votes. Together, we will fight against tyranny and prevail.'
The BJP and AAP Exchange Barbs
After CM Kejriwal's arrest, political temperatures in the national capital have risen. Both the BJP and AAP are targeting each other. Amid this, the BJP has pasted posters near the CM's residence in Civil Lines, pointing towards alleged corruption. Delhi BJP President Virender Sachdeva displayed a flex board pointing the way to the CM's dwelling, with the poster stating, 'Crystal Palace, the den of corruption, Chief Minister's residence, 6 Flag Staff Road, Civil Lines'. The board provocatively indicates the CM's residence, just a short distance away.
BJP Targets 'Crystal Palace'
The BJP claims that people come to Delhi to visit India Gate and other monuments. They want people to also see the 'Crystal Palace' as the center of corruption. Speaking to Aaj Tak/India Today, Virender Sachdeva mentioned, 'We've shown the path where plans to loot Delhi are hatched.' He added, 'This residence is why CM Kejriwal does not relinquish his position.'
Sunita Kejriwal Campaigns for Kuldeep Kumar
Last year, CM Arvind Kejriwal was accused of squandering 45 crores on renovating his official residence, prompting calls for his resignation from the BJP. Meanwhile, as his wife Sunita Kejriwal rallies for the Lok Sabha candidate from East Delhi, Kuldeep Kumar, the party has unfurled banners championing 'I Love Kejriwal'.
