On August 13, a gruesome incident unfolded in the village of Kishorepur in the Todi Fatehpur police station area of Jhansi. A farmer spotted two sacks floating in his field's well. Upon retrieval, the sacks contained dismembered parts of a woman's body, divided into seven pieces but lacking the head and feet. This ghastly find left both the villagers and the police stunned.
Police Investigation Teams Formed
To solve this case, 8 to 10 police teams were established. The well was drained, revealing another sack containing a woman's hand, yet the head and both feet remained missing. From the condition of the body, it was clear to the police that the murder was carried out with extreme brutality, with the head and feet removed to conceal the identity.
Identification of the Woman - A Challenge
With the head and feet missing, identification was difficult. The police conducted inquires across over 100 villages and examined footage from more than 200 CCTV cameras. The woman's age was estimated to be between 33 and 35. Using the clothing and jewelry as clues, the police released posters on social media, but no solid leads emerged for five days.
Crucial Information from Posters
Eventually, success came through more than 1,000 posters displayed by the police. A person contacted the police after seeing the poster, reporting that his sister had been missing for four days. This led to the identification of the woman as Rachna Yadav from Tikamgarh, Madhya Pradesh. Rachna, a widow, was advocating in a case against her in-laws.
Revelation of Illicit Relations
The investigation revealed that Rachna met the former village head, Sanjay Patel, from Maheba village in Jhansi. Gradually, they grew close and started living together. However, when Rachna began pressuring Sanjay for marriage and money, it caused distress. This tension eventually led to this gruesome murder.
Murder Conspiracy Hatched
Sanjay Patel, along with his nephew Sandeep Patel and accomplice Pradeep Ahirwar, plotted to remove Rachna from their path. Together, they crafted a bloody conspiracy to murder Rachna. Following their plan, they brutally killed her, dismembered her body, and packed it into sacks. To ensure her identity remained hidden, the head and legs were severed and the body parts discarded in the well.
Sanjay and Sandeep First Arrested
The police swiftly arrested the main accused, Sanjay Patel, and his nephew, Sandeep Patel. During interrogation, both confessed to their crime and revealed the entire plot. They stated that the pressure and ongoing dispute with Rachna were the significant motives behind the murder.

The Third Accused Pradeep at Large
The third accused in this murder case, Pradeep Ahirwar, a partner of Sanjay Patel, was still at large. The police declared a bounty of 25,000 rupees for him. Multiple police teams relentlessly searched for him, finally locating Pradeep near Jhansi. The police team surrounded the area to capture him.
Arrest After Encounter
Pradeep attempted to flee, leading to a confrontation with the police. During this encounter, he was shot in the right leg and captured. The police seized weapons and ammunition from him. With this arrest, the Rachna Yadav murder mystery was completely solved.
