The first Test match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy between India and England is underway at Leeds' Headingley Cricket Ground. It's day three of this encounter, which is evenly poised. On day two, England batted in 'Bazball' style, scoring 209/3 in just 49 overs, following India's formidable 471-run first innings.

It's worth noting that all three of India’s wickets have been taken by Jasprit Bumrah. With an economy of 48 runs from 13 overs, Bumrah made significant breakthroughs. England's opener Jack Crawley, scoring just 4, was caught out in the very first over. Meanwhile, Ben Duckett, who put 62 on the board, was clean bowled by Bumrah. Even Joe Root fell short of a high score and returned the ball to Nair on Bumrah’s delivery.

Bumrah received no support from the other end. Mohammed Siraj was expensive in his initial spell. Prasiddh Krishna gave away 56 runs in his 10 overs, while Shardul Thakur conceded 23 runs in his 3 overs. Although Ravindra Jadeja bowled economically, yielding only 25 runs in his 9 overs, no wickets came his way.

As play resumes on the third day in Leeds, captain Shubman Gill and head coach Gautam Gambhir must strategize on how to dismiss England quickly to set a commanding total for the second innings in favor of India.

Dropped Catches – The Cost Could Be Severe...

India's fielding was disappointingly poor. Reliable fielders like Ravindra Jadeja and Yashasvi Jaiswal missed catches that could have changed the course of the match. Had they grabbed the opportunities off Bumrah's bowling, the results might differ. Ollie Pope, currently unbeaten on 100, could've returned to the pavilion at 60.

In the 31st over bowled by Bumrah, a straightforward catch by Yashasvi Jaiswal in the third slip was dropped. Earlier, in the fifth over, a catch offered by Ben Duckett at 15 was missed by Jaiswal. Subsequently, in the seventh over, Duckett's catch was again dropped by Ravindra Jadeja at the point, when he was still on 15.
