The infighting within UP BJP is escalating to the next level. The worrying part is that this is happening at a time when by-elections for 10 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh are imminent.
Despite BJP President JP Nadda's attempts to mediate by sending Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya from Delhi to Lucknow, it doesn't seem like any effort to douse the fire has been made, or is having any effect.
The conflict between Yogi Adityanath and Keshav Prasad Maurya continues to escalate. UP BJP President Bhupendra Chaudhary is also holding meetings, but factionalism dominates there as well. This factionalism is not limited to the party but also affects allied parties.
Keshav Prasad Maurya has written a letter requesting information from a department under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Previously, Anupriya Patel of allied party Apna Dal and Union Minister wrote similar letters, followed by UP government's Cabinet Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar showing a similar trend.
Efforts to resolve UP BJP's dispute are also being made by the RSS, but so far, there has been no visible impact. This new and significant challenge for BJP comes after the severe defeat in the Lok Sabha elections.
Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya wrote to the UP Government's Appointment and Personnel Department requesting detailed information on the number of outsourced and contract employees in all departments and their adherence to reservation norms.
