At the India Today Conclave on Friday, author and former Israeli MP Einat Wilf joined a discussion on the topic 'Gaza Riviera: Solution or Sacrilege.' During this event, she candidly expressed her views on the current conditions in the Middle East.

When Wilf was asked about the US President Donald Trump's Gaza Rivera Plan concerning the reconstruction of Gaza, she remarked that to comprehend Trump's decision, one must first understand the situation in Gaza. Wilf noted that Gaza possesses everything a prosperous region should have: fertile land, resources, and excellent geographic support. Yet, the problems it faces are primarily political in nature.

Due to political challenges, the region is utterly devastated, but if plans like this can bring about positive change in the lives of the people there, then it's a commendable plan. It has the potential to improve conditions significantly.

Discussing relations with Palestine, Wilf remarked that several countries issue one-sided statements, but it's vital to grasp that Palestine has always refused to acknowledge us. They refuse to recognize us as a nation, and their core issue lies in their ideology, which they are entangled in.

October 7: A Dark Day

On October 7, 2023, Hamas launched an attack on Israel. When Wilf was asked about this attack, she described it as a dark day for us, a terrifying scenario. Hamas crossed all limits of cruelty, planning everything systematically. Yet, when their plans failed, they pretended to be victims. I want to state unequivocally that their intent was to obliterate us, but they did not succeed.

Wilf, when addressing the Palestinian crisis, noted the presence of numerous checkpoints in Gaza. It's essential to comprehend why they exist and the administration behind them. Arab nations aren't genuinely aligned with Gaza; they merely pretend to stand with them. The people of Gaza need to understand where their true interests lie and must recognize Israel to find a path that ensures peace.
