A major accident occurred at the renowned Simhachalam Temple in Visakhapatnam. A cement wall of a shopping complex on the way to the temple collapsed, claiming the lives of seven people and injuring several devotees. Shortly after the incident, NDRF, SDRF, fire brigade, and police teams took charge, continuing with relief and rescue operations. The injured were immediately transported to hospitals for treatment.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed his sorrow, stating, "I am saddened by the loss of seven devotees' lives during the Chandanotsavam of Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swami. My sincere condolences go out to the families of those who lost their lives due to the wall collapse caused by heavy rain."
He further mentioned that he has discussed the situation with the district collector and SP and has ordered medical care for the injured. He will be reviewing the situation periodically to ensure effective relief efforts.
Home Minister Assesses the Situation
Home Minister Anita visited the site to evaluate the situation. She supervised the relief efforts alongside the district collector and police commissioner, instructing that the rescue mission proceed without delay and the best care be given to the injured.
The tragic event took place as devotees were making their way from Simhachalam bus stand towards the temple. Amidst the heavy crowd, a wall-like structure meant for the Rs. 300 ticket queue suddenly collapsed. An investigation has been ordered, and stern warnings have been issued against those responsible.

He emphasized his deep grief over the unfortunate accident that snatched seven lives due to the collapsed wall amid heavy rains. Condolences have been extended to the families of the deceased, with immediate orders for enhancing treatment for the wounded.
He added that directives have been issued to commence the rescue operation promptly. Investigations into the incident have been initiated, with NDRF teams and ambulance services actively deployed. The collector, Home Minister Anita, and other ministers have assessed the situation firsthand.
Anam Ramnarayana reiterated that the state government stands resolutely with the affected families and will reinforce safety measures in the temple vicinity to prevent such incidents in the future.
