In the Asia Cup 2025 final, India triumphed over Pakistan by five wickets on Sunday, September 28. Despite this victory, Team India's celebration wasn't quite what the fans anticipated.

Nonetheless, the manner in which Suryakumar Yadav, the T20 captain, celebrated the victory was remarkable and reminiscent of Rohit Sharma. Suryakumar's celebration with the unseen Asia Cup trophy will be remembered for years to come.

Following the final, Team India declined to accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The Indian team found it unacceptable to receive the trophy from Naqvi.

Naqvi then decided to take the trophy and winners' medals to his hotel, leaving the Indian players celebrating on an empty dais. BCCI raised concerns over Naqvi's actions and issued a stern warning.

Following Naqvi's antics, Suryakumar Yadav lifted the team's spirits by reenacting Rohit Sharma's iconic 'Ric Flair' WWE celebration from the 2024 T20 World Cup win. The team celebrated despite the absence of a trophy in their hands.

The post-match presentation in Dubai was delayed, and the Indian players did not go to the dais to receive the trophy or medals. The team intended to accept the trophy from AMECC Vice-chairman Khalid Al Zarooni, but Naqvi refused.

Suryakumar Subtly Criticized Naqvi...

During this time, Indian captain Suryakumar stated, 'This is the first time in my career I've seen a champion team deprived of the trophy. It was no easy feat. We played two consecutive excellent matches, and I felt we deserved it.' BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia mentioned they plan to register a strong protest against Naqvi at the ICC conference in November.
