The calibration flight trial was successfully completed at Noida International Airport's runway. The Airport Authority of India's (AAI) small aircraft VT-FIS executed a flight in the airspace to verify the accuracy of navigation and safety devices. As per the Yamuna Authority, this trial was conducted following the instruction from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

The AAI aircraft took off from Delhi's IGI Airport at approximately 9:30 AM on Tuesday and made a safe landing on Noida Airport's runway at 10:26 AM. The aircraft hovered in the airspace for about 20-25 minutes to test the equipment. The purpose of the calibration flight testing is to validate the precision and reliability of airport and aviation equipment.

The testing involved instruments like the Instrument Landing System (ILS), radar, and communication systems to ensure flawless navigation aid during flights. This process is essential to obtain an aerodrome license before beginning commercial flights at any new airport.

The runway at Noida International Airport measures 3900 meters in length and features two ends: Runway 10 and Runway 28. Last Friday, testing of the localizer, glide path system, and PAPI lights for Runway-10 was conducted. Subsequently, the aircraft tested the equipment by landing on Runway-28 from the west, which proved entirely successful.

The DGCA has initiated the study of the data acquired from the trial. According to sources, all equipment was found to be correct. Consequently, the airport is likely to receive the aerodrome license within a week. Officials are now focused on preparing for the airport's grand opening, expected by the end of November.

Previously, in December 2024, the Airbus A320 of IndiGo Airlines landed on the runway for the first time at the airport. During that period, the ILS and other navigation devices were also inspected. After the successful calibration flight trial at Noida International Airport, the official inauguration is now eagerly awaited. It is anticipated that the Prime Minister might inaugurate this airport in the third or fourth week of November.
