India has clarified post the meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Vientiane that there was no substantial discussion between the two leaders. Once again, India expressed its expectation that pro-Khalistan activities would not be encouraged in Canada, and that robust action will be taken against those supporting anti-India violence, extremism, and terrorism from Canadian soil, which remains unseen as of now.

India emphasized that the increasing nexus of organized crime, drug syndicates, and human trafficking by such elements should be a cause of concern not only for India but also for Canada. The Indian government has highlighted the importance of its relations with Canada but made it clear that until the Canadian government takes strict and authentic actions against people conspiring to foster hatred, misinformation, communal tension, and violence against India, improvement in relations is unlikely.

According to the Indian government, advancing towards improving bilateral relations is feasible only if the Canadian government takes decisive and clear actions against those involved in anti-India activities. India underscored that such elements conspire to promote hatred, misinformation, communal tension, and violence in both nations.

Sources from the Ministry of External Affairs have noted that good relations between India and Canada can only be established if Canada reins in its homegrown anti-India activities. The government emphasized that it is Canada's responsibility to curb pro-Khalistan elements and take substantial actions against them. This would be a significant step in restoring trust and enhancing bilateral relations.

India reiterated its appreciation of its relationship with Canada but maintained that unless Canada takes decisive and authentic steps against pro-Khalistan supporters and their actions, the prospect of improving relations remains dim. India also stressed that stemming the activities of pro-Khalistan elements and taking stern actions against them is Canada's responsibility to restore trust between the two nations.
