The chaotic aftermath in Bahraich's Maharajganj village and its surrounding areas is showing signs of calming down. However, mobile internet services remained suspended for the third consecutive day. A significant police presence continues to ensure security. 'Aaj Tak' engaged with Muslims in the violence-affected region to hear their stories. They reveal that post-violence, doing business has become a challenge. The streets echo silence and customers have disappeared from shops.

Abdul Rahman, a resident of Maharajganj, expressed that before the unrest, the community coexisted peacefully. However, the violence shattered this harmony, deterring people from visiting local shops.

Recalling the events of October 13, Abdul Rahman mentioned, "We had not hindered the idol immersion. Our Islamic flag was removed from our roof and replaced with another, followed by stone-pelting and inappropriate songs, which escalated the chaos."

Abdul Rahman acknowledged that if gunfire came from the Muslim side, it was wrong, but noted that gunfire was exchanged, and we were away from the scene. Yet, the turbulence spread to our homes, rocks shattered windows, a sight unseen in the fifty years we've lived here.

The Entire Matter Explained

On October 13, a conflict arose during Durga idol immersion in Maharajganj, Bahraich, leading some from another community to stone-pelt, inducing panic. Amidst this, Ramgopal Mishra, aged 22, was fatally shot, and those attempting to help him faced severe injuries, spurring the immersion committee to block the highway in protest.

The aftermath of Ramgopal's death sparked unrest across Maharajganj. Protestors vandalized Abdul Hamid's and others' properties and vehicles, setting them ablaze. The arrival of the deceased's body to the village fueled the crowd's fury once more, leading to arson and vandalism of homes, nursing homes, bike showrooms, and shops in Maharajganj. The police resorted to tear gas to control the violent crowd.

With worsening conditions, internet services across the district were terminated, remaining inactive still. Special police forces, including PAC and RAF, were deployed. The STF chief personally monitored the area armed, while DM and SP continued their patrols. Even after three days, tension grips Maharajganj in the Mahsi area.

Image of Ramgopal's Shooter Emerges

Amidst the violence, an image has surfaced of the individual allegedly responsible for shooting Ramgopal Mishra. The photograph reveals a person wielding a gun, reportedly taken at Abdul Hamid's residence, where Ramgopal was murdered.

This photo rapidly circulated on social media, though no official statements have followed. The discussion, however, remains intense. The photograph is claimed to have been captured as Ramgopal, injured, was being carried down from the roof by his friends. Meanwhile, police investigations are actively underway.
