The Manipur Police have deployed an anti-drone system in response to recent drone and rocket attacks on civilians. This announcement came after reports of renewed violence in the Jiribam district, which resulted in the deaths of five people. According to Inspector General of Police (Intelligence) K. Kabib, a strong anti-drone system has been put in place, and the police are in the process of acquiring additional weapons to counter such attacks on civilians.

According to PTI, he stated, "The state forces are closely monitoring the situation, and senior officers have been deployed on the ground. Following recent drone attacks, an anti-drone system has been stationed, and the state police are in the process of procuring additional anti-drone guns, which will soon be deployed."

He added that army helicopters are conducting aerial patrols and security personnel have been deployed in sensitive areas. Search operations on both the hills and valleys have been intensified, focusing on areas from where long-range rockets and drones were launched. These operations will cover at least 3-5 kilometers, concentrating on these critical areas.

Kabib stated, "The purpose of the search operation is to prevent any kind of attacks from areas in both the hills and the valley where rockets and drones have been launched."

Regarding the violence in the Jiribam district, Kabib said that suspected Kuki militants attacked the village of Nungchabi, which resulted in the death of a 63-year-old elder, Kulendra Singh. Additionally, there was a shootout between village volunteers and unidentified miscreants near Rashidpur village, leading to the death of an individual named B. Lakhikant Sharma.

The district police, led by the SP, responded to the situation, and later, three bodies of miscreants in disguise were recovered. Detailed information is yet to be obtained. He said, "We have activated our social media monitoring cell to identify instigators who arouse public sentiments and cause chaos. We're identifying these individuals on social media and warning them that they will be held accountable under relevant sections of the law."

IGP added that there was an attempt to loot arms from the 7th Manipur Rifles Khabeisoi and 2nd Manipur Rifles in Imphal last evening. The combined forces successfully dispersed the mob, resulting in some vehicles being damaged by the miscreants. After miscreants fired shots, two state police personnel were injured and admitted to a private hospital; it is reported they are out of danger.

A senior police officer stated that during two search operations on Saturday morning in Loibol Khullen and Tingkai Khullen, which lie on the border of Kangpokpi and Bishnupur districts, a large cache of sophisticated arms and ammunition was recovered. This included nine sophisticated weapons, a modified sniper rifle, 21 different types of ammunition, 21 explosives and grenades, and a wireless set.
