When questioned about the defeat of Sharad Pawar's party in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, NCP Chief Ajit Pawar chose to sidestep the topic. Upon being asked whether the veteran leader’s party winning only 10 seats posed questions about his political future and if he would realign with him, Ajit Pawar avoided giving a direct reply.
He expressed that he did not wish to comment on others. He shared that everyone talks in various ways but he will follow his intent first and then observe who aligns with whom. His priority, he said, was to first establish a government.
'Focused on Our Work'
In a conversation with journalists, Ajit Pawar stated, 'We conducted the Jan Samman Yatra, and throughout this journey, we refrained from making negative remarks on others. We concentrated on our work, and our strike rate in the elections was impressive. According to the places where we contested, we secured a respectable number of seats.'
He also mentioned that the BJP and Shiv Sena obtained a good number of seats. The Ladki Bahi Plan was instrumental in this success. Additionally, the waiver of electricity bills for farmers made a significant impact in the elections. What we promised, we delivered.
'Learned from Our Mistakes'
He remarked, 'We learned from our defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. Shinde Ji learned too, and we rectified our mistakes. This election was critical for us and the Shinde-led Shiv Sena, as it concerned our future.'
Ajit Pawar disclosed, 'During the Lok Sabha period, I faced severe opposition in Baramati. Despite that, my family and a few sisters stood by me. Previously, I had a deficit in votes; however, now I am ahead by over one lakh votes. I salute the people of Baramati for not being driven by emotional issues and casting their votes for development.'
