'Mood of the Nation' (MOTN)
survey.
Discussing the vote percentage, the NDA appears to benefit with 47% if elections were held now. It's projected that the India Bloc would receive 39%, while others would garner 14% of the votes.
This survey was conducted between December 8, 2025, and January 21, 2026, involving 36,265 participants from various age groups, castes, religions, and genders. However, there might be a margin of error of approximately five percent.

The MOTN survey inquired about potential outcomes if Lok Sabha elections were held today. It revealed an estimate of 352 seats for the NDA, 182 seats for the India Bloc, and 9 seats for others. In comparison, the Lok Sabha elections in 2024 awarded the NDA 293 seats and the India Bloc 234 seats. An August 2025 survey projected 324 seats for the NDA and 208 seats for the India Bloc.

If Elections Were Held Today, Who Gets the Votes?
Regarding alliance-wise vote share, according to the survey, the NDA could achieve a 47% share, India Bloc 39%, and others 14%. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the NDA garnered a 43% vote share, while the India Bloc received 40%. An August survey estimated a 47% share for the NDA and 41% for the India Bloc.
If Elections Were Held Today, Who Gets the Seats?
The survey asked about the seats each party might secure if Lok Sabha elections happened today. It projected 287 seats for BJP, 80 seats for Congress, and 176 seats for others. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP won 240 seats, and Congress secured 99 seats. The August survey estimated 260 seats for BJP and 97 seats for Congress.
In terms of party-wise vote share, if elections were today, the survey suggested BJP could achieve 41%, Congress 20%, and others 39% of the votes.
Preferred Candidate for PM Role?
The survey also asked respondents who they deem the best face for the next Prime Minister. 55% identified Narendra Modi as the right candidate, while 27% supported Rahul Gandhi. Previously, in the August 2025 MOTN survey, 52% favored Narendra Modi and 25% preferred Rahul Gandhi.

The Best Prime Minister Ever?
The survey questioned respondents on the best Prime Minister the country has witnessed so far. 50% chose Narendra Modi, while 12% voted for Indira Gandhi as the finest Prime Minister to date. Atal Bihari Vajpayee also received 12% as the best PM.
Reflecting on PM Modi’s performance, 57% of respondents declared themselves very happy. Meanwhile, 16% considered PM Modi’s work average, and 24% rated it poorly. Regarding the NDA's performance, 52% were satisfied, while 24% expressed dissatisfaction.
