The seat distribution within the Grand Alliance of Bihar for the Lok Sabha elections has been decided. RJD, Congress, and the Left have reached an agreement on seat sharing. RJD will be contesting the majority of seats.

There are a total of 40 seats in Bihar. RJD is set to contest on 26 seats, Congress on 9, and the Left has been allotted 5 seats.

Moreover, RJD has been given those three seats where Pappu Yadav or his wife have previously contested elections, including Supaul, Madhepura, and Purnia. These constituencies are now being seen as key to RJD's strategy. Pappu Yadav, who has held the position of MLA once and MP five times, has represented Purnia three times and Madhepura twice, while Supaul saw his wife Ranjeeta Ranjan as its representative, who is currently a Rajya Sabha MP from Congress.

RJD to Contest Elections on These 26 Seats

RJD will be contesting the Lok Sabha elections on the following seats: Gaya, Nawada, Jahanabad, Aurangabad, Buxar, Patliputra, Munger, Jamui, Banka, Valmiki Nagar, East Champaran, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Vaishali, Saran, Siwan, Gopalganj, Ujiarpur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Jhanjharpur, Supaul, Madhepura, Purnia, Araria, Hajipur.

Congress Secures 9 Seats Including Key Constituencies

Congress will field candidates in Katihar, Betiah, Kishanganj, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Samastipur, West Champaran, Patna Sahib, Sasaram, and Maharajganj.

The Left CPI-ML will have candidates in Ara, Karakat, Nalanda, while CPI gets Begusarai and CPM contests for the Khagaria seat.

'Will Kanhaiya Kumar Face a Setback in Begusarai?'

Kanhaiya Kumar, who contended the 2019 elections on a CPI ticket in the face of BJP’s Giriraj Singh, suffered a major defeat. Following the loss, he joined Congress. Once again, however, the seat has been allocated to CPI in this election.

Pappu Yadav Reluctant to Step Back from Purnia?

Pappu Yadav, eager to claim the Purnia seat, seems unprepared to concede. He has expressed his determination notably through a recent post, emphasizing his resolve to achieve victory in the Seemanchal Kosic region and raise the Congress flag high in Purnia, aiming to help Rahul Gandhi become Prime Minister.

The Persistent Puzzle in Bihar's Grand Alliance

The seat-sharing deal in the Grand Alliance was fraught with tensions, especially over the Purnia seat. Facing an impasse, RJD went ahead and fielded its own candidates on several seats to which Congress also laid claim, heightening the stakes and intensifying the political battle.

Pappu Yadav Left Clamoring for the Purnia Seat

Despite a long-standing claim to the Purnia seat and active engagement in the local constituency, Pappu Yadav's aspirations were overshadowed by RJD's tactical move, raising eyebrows and questions about the future of this high-stakes political contest in Bihar.
