On November 23, India announced their squad for the three-match ODI series against South Africa. KL Rahul, the wicketkeeper-batsman, will lead the Indian team due to regular captain Shubman Gill's neck injury, which made him unavailable for selection, thus handing this great responsibility to Rahul.

India's ODI squad sees the inclusion of Tilak Varma and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Ruturaj has returned to the Indian team following his excellent performance with the bat against South Africa-A. Both Tilak and Ruturaj have had promising stints in previous international matches, with Tilak making a strong return following good T20 performances. Veteran all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Rishabh Pant also return to the ODI squad after missing the Australian tour.

The 15-member squad includes cricket legends like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Plus, players like Mohammad Siraj and Axar Patel, who were part of the ODI setup during the Australian tour, are not included this time. Injury has also kept Shreyas Iyer out of the squad.

Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Tilak Varma, KL Rahul (Captain/Wicketkeeper), Rishabh Pant (Wicketkeeper), Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harshit Rana, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, and Dhruv Jurel.

The first ODI between India and South Africa is scheduled for November 30 in Ranchi, followed by the second in Raipur on December 3 and the final ODI in Visakhapatnam on December 6. Subsequently, a five-match T20 series will commence from December 9, with the Indian team announcement to follow.
